Concrete examples and calculators are included in the sections dealing with different dosing regimens of insulin. These tools facilitate understanding and simplify the implementation of the choice of insulin therapy.
The themes are:
* Oral and injectable antihyperglycemic agents, and how they work
* Insulins and duration of action
* Recommended targets for glycemic control
* Link between insulin and blood sugar
* Principles of insulins use
* Insulin therapies
The Guide was written by Dr. Johanne Desforges, general practitioner, and Catherine Aubry, clinic nurse, who both have extensive experience working with people with diabetes in the care and education. The revision was entrusted to Dr Philippe Caron, endocrinologist, as well as Amélie Roy-Fleming and Julie St-Jean, certified diabetes educators and dietitian at Diabetes Quebec.
